Here’s your chance to compete in one of the worlds largest yacht race and the UKs third largest participated sporting event and no experience is necessary!

Some of the worlds’ most experienced yacht racers rub shoulder to shoulder with some of the best amateur sailors and with people who have never race a boat before in their life. It’s never been easier to take part in this historic race, you can do a bareboat charter, skippered charter or an individual berth charter. With skippered charters and individuals berths no experience is necessary, making this a great chance to experience the thrill of yacht racing for the first time.

So you’re fully prepared and in a race winning position when you cross the start line we can offer packages with training weekends included.

Itinerary

Fri 29 Jun

Standard package:

09:00 Join your boat for a comprehensive safety and boat brief and introduction to your professional crew. Then get out on the water and training begins.

17:00 After training day, moor yacht in Cowes and debrief and preparation of boat for racing tomorrow. Crew departs for showers and dinner ashore. Visit the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race Village, with bar and live music.

Individual place:

08:30-10:00 onwards Arrive and register, and meet up with your fellow sailor sand professional crew and have full safety briefing.

10:00 Set sail for a full day of training, with lunch onboard.

16:00-17:00 Berth in Cowes Yacht Haven and enjoy the atmosphere of the race village.

Sat 30 Jun

05:30 Crew rise and breakfast. Your yacht departs the marina for race start.

06:00 Race start (weather dependent – approximate time).

15:00 Race finish (weather dependent – approximate time).

18:00 Once boat is packed away it’s time to go and party in the Race Village, or elsewhere in Cowes!

Sun 1 Jul

10:00 Depart Cowes for a leisurely sail home. Arrive back at marina and depart for home after a great weekend of sailing and racing!

The Solent really is not that big a place and when you’ve got close to 2000 boats racing and spectating it’s a very stressful and dangerous time even for the most experienced of crews so we always recommend taking a Skippered charter. Individual Berth and crew opportunity Round the Island Race Package

Ideal for individuals, couples, friends and small groups. No experience is necessary as full training will be given by the highly experienced crew and first mate. Included in your individual berth round the island race package is the race entry fee, mooring in Cowes, lunch and snacks, on board sleeping option, wet weather kit, access to the race village and of cause the highly experienced skipper and first mate.
